Pelikan shorthand fountain pens

For shorthand (German: stenographie / steno) a writing instrument is necessary that allows both a very high speed of writing and a lot of flexibility of line. There had always been special nibs for this purpose, which could be supplied with either piston fillers or cartridge fillers.
For the first time in 1971, two fountain pens were made at Pelikan, which were explicitly referred to as Steno-pen. More Steno-pens followed. All these Steno fountain pens with the exception of P16 come in a form looking very like current Pelikanos, except that the Steno-holder had no taper to the section.
